Very good headphones. Sound quality is there, from bottom to top. Some writers complained about no bass, believe me, the bass is there but maybe not there depending on the amp or i-phone/ipad; iTunes are lousy sound files. I use an equalizer and the bass will shake your head. The highs are there, crisp and good quality. With the phones on your head and no music, you can hear all the background noise clearly, that means they are safe.

This is my first time trying open back headphones and I have found that I quite like the more spacious sound stage that they provide. Being open back, you are also much more aware of your surroundings as the sound is able to leak through the back panels of the earcups but this is also what provides the more spacious sound signature of open back headphones. The Philips Century headphones are very light and comfortable to wear. The fabric on the ear cushions is soft and non abrasive to my skin and the headband provides ample support. The "retro 70s" look I find quite simple but yet stylish at the same time. They feature a simple black frame with slightly brown earcups and headband. They feature 50mm angled drivers which follow the shape of your ear in order to deliver a nice, balanced audio output. They have nice clean highs, balanced mids but some may find them lacking slightly on the bass side of things. Personally I quite like them but thought I would mention it. The box and packing materials are made entirely out of cardboard which is a nice environmentally conscious choice. Inside the box, the headphones come with a 3m long 3.5mm to 3.5mm audio jack cable alongside a female 3.5mm to male 6.3mm jack adaptor. Overall a really great pair of headphones

Hi, I’ve been using this Philips freddie headset mostly with my computer at home. The sound’s really clear and open, you can catch little details in the music and it’s got a nice balance between bass and highs. The design looks nice too, kind of simple but with a cool retro vibe.. Comfort-wise: no complaints, the sides adjust well and the ear pads are soft enough that I can wear them for hours while working or watching stuff without any pressure on my head(my old headset used to hurt after like an hour but this one’s fine for several ^^). The cable’s pretty long which makes it great for desk use.. I used the adapter (who was given with) to plug it in and it worked straight away. I don’t think it’s the best option if you plan to use it in public spaces but for studying or working from home, it does the job very well. The price is a bit high so make sure to buy from the right retailer bc some charge more than others

Incredibile qualità sonora. Si apprezza ogni singolo strumento e voce come se si fosse dal vivo in una sala acustica. L'unica sensazione negativa che avevo avuto all'inizio è che i bassi fossero troppo controllati ma dopo un'opportuna regolazione della sorgente anche quelli vengono perfettamente riprodotti con un'eccellente timbrica, potente e senza mai andare in distorsione. Fantastiche cuffie!

Ik ben erg te spreken over mijn nieuwe Philips "The Freddie" headset. Het geluid uit deze open back koptelefoon is echt prachtig, en heeft een heel groot toonhoogte bereik waardoor ik bij het luisteren naar muziek nieuwe dingen ontdekte die ik daar voor niet eerder zo gehoord had. Het retro design vind ik ook erg leuk gelukt. De koptelefoon zit comfortabel op je hoofd, en je kunt hem makkelijk meerdere uren ophouden zonder pijn te krijgen aan je hoofd of oren omdat hij te strak zit. Ook de lange kabel is top, hiermee kun je een stukje van je computer af bewegen zonder dat het krampachtig wordt.

Deze koptelefoon heeft zijn reputatie voor mij volledig waargemaakt. Zodra ik hem uit de doos haalde viel het retro design op, simpel maar stijlvol. Geen overbodige extra’s in de verpakking, alleen de koptelefoon en het snoer, maar dat stoorde me eigenlijk niet. De bouwkwaliteit voelt degelijk en hij kan duidelijk tegen een stootje. Wat comfort betreft zit het helemaal goed. De oorschelpen zijn groot genoeg voor mijn oren en de klemkracht is minimaal. Ik kan uren luisteren zonder pijn of drukpunten. Het geluid is mooi gebalanceerd en natuurlijk. De middentonen zijn fantastisch, vooral stemmen klinken levendig en aanwezig. Hoge tonen zijn helder en gedetailleerd, soms net aan de scherpe kant maar nooit storend voor mij. De bas is strak en gecontroleerd, niet overdreven maar precies genoeg. Wat ik ook fijn vind is dat hij makkelijk aan te sturen is. Gewoon ingeplugd in mijn laptop of telefoon klinkt hij al goed, geen versterker nodig. De soundstage is verrassend ruim waardoor muziek en games bijna speakerachtig aanvoelen. Voor deze prijs vind ik dit echt een aanrader.

Deze Philips SHP9500CY/00 HiFi stereo koptelefoon van de Century Range ziet er mooi uit, heeft een hoog draagcomfort en heeft erg goed geluid! We hebben hem gekocht omdat we weer analoog naar muziek wilden luisteren via de platenspeler. De lange audiokabel van 1,5 meter maakt hem daar zeer geschikt voor. Het draagcomfort is hoog vanwege de grote en zachte oorkussens en het extra kussen onder de hoofdband. Het design is ook leuk, hij doet echt vintage aan. Bouwkwaliteit prima, stevig en degelijk. Het geluid is erg goed: diep, geen vervorming bij hoge tonen en een stevige bas. De 3.5 en 6.3 audio aansluiting maakt hem ook geschikt voor oudere apparatuur. Al met al zijn we zeer tevreden met deze koptelefoon. Zeker een aanrader voor liefhebbers van analoog geluid of voor degenen die een voorkeur hebben voor het bedraad luisteren naar muziek. Doet de naam en geschiedenis van Philips als geluidsinnovator zeker eer aan!

Assolutamente straordinarie. Una qualità audio impressionante anche attaccandole semplicemente allo smartphone. Apprezzo il compromesso perfetto tra qualità e dettaglio e il fatto che per sentire tutte le nuances la sorgente non viene filtrata eccessivamente, quindi non sono cuffie estremamente esigenti, e per pilotarle anche a volume alto e avvolgente non c'è bisogno di una sorgente potente o di specifica qualità. Sinceramente è una delle cuffie dalla maggior qualità sonora che io abbia mai provato, e ho anche tante Sennheiser di alta fascia. Bellissimo il logo Philips sull'interno del padiglione.

The Freddie headphones look cool in that retro‑wannabe way, but honestly, they don’t totally live up to the hype. The open‑back design is nice if you’re into airy sound, but it also means everyone around you can hear your music, which is awkward if you live with family or roommates. The sound itself is super clear, but the bass is basically on vacation. If you listen to rap or anything bass‑heavy, you’ll probably feel like something’s missing. Comfort is the best part—they’re light, the pads don’t get sweaty, and you can wear them forever. But the long cable is kind of annoying unless you’re glued to your desk. They also feel a bit flimsy for something trying to look “vintage.” Overall, they’re fine if you want clean sound and a retro vibe, but they’re not mind‑blowing. Definitely not the “wow” moment the name suggests.
